Run Your Car on Water Scam - Can You Really Convert a Car to Run on Water?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

As someone that reviews products for a living, I have heard both sides of this issue and there are a few things in particular that I want to point out. First, I think we all agree that something needs to be done. A recent Goldman Sachs executive shared his thoughts on the current oil speculation business. He said that he expects to see oil hit the $200 a barrel mark by years end. Ladies and gentleman, that translates into about $7.50 a Gallon! Ouch .. like I said, something needs to be done.

There are some viable options when it comes to fuel alternatives. There is the electric car that we have all heard about for a long time now. The truth is that this alternative gets a bad rap when the truth is that the electric technology has come a long way. In fact, some of the electric cars that are coming out now can run for hundreds of miles before having to have a charge. People I talk to that are familiar with the industry see the future getting brighter and brighter for electric technology. The problem with electric cars and hybrid vehicles are that they have to be purchased new. If you want to tap into this technology, you will need to pay for a new car and the price curve is still too high. So, what can be done ..

That’s a good question. If you own a vehicle and want to find hope aside from the incredibly high cost of gas, there is hope. You can convert or modify your vehicle to run on water. Well, not only water but a water and gasoline mixture. There are many that are scared off from doing this very inexpensive conversion. Many are under the impression that the “run your car on water” products are a scam. Based upon my research, this is simply not true. In fact, the technology has been around since 1820.

If you want to learn more about how to convert a car to run on water, I have included a link to objective reviews of the three leading products .. hope that helps.

Model Year 2009 - New Looks For New Car Sales

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Each year come autumn, automakers can shrug off mistakes of the previous model year, and look forward to the start of a fresh new model year.

Fall 2008 is particularly interesting, since the industry sustained a historically poor year for new-car sales. Consumers get to see how each automaker responds, how auto executives plan to rebound, or how others see it fit to stand pat.

For what the industry calls model year 2009 - which begins in 2008, of course - what might we expect in terms of new cars?

What we’ll see in 2009 was actually designed the previous year and, often, years before that. Early indications are the industry, from America to Europe to Asia, plans to unveil a significant amount of new products.

Many are designed to address record-high gas prices, but some automakers still hope to sell new horsepower-heavy sports cars. Here’s a look at what’s new, or not, for 2009.

New Models Causing a Buzz

Following are changes that have attracted some industry buzz and media attention.

Hyundai is rolling out its Genesis sedan and coupe, gearing to compete directly with European luxury imports. With its 290-horsepower V6, or even a 375-hp V8, the South Korean automaker ventures into a market segment it’s never explored.

Mercedes-Benz will deliver its BlueTec diesel engine to several sport utility vehicle models. By the first quarter of ‘09, the GLK, a new crossover SUV, is expected to arrive.

Toyota unveils its Venza, a brand new model. It’s based on the Camry platform, and industry journalists struggle to determine whether it’s a wagon, or crossover SUV. Buyers can choose from four-cylinder economy, or V6 power.

On the American front, Ford’s Flex already is selling for those who need space but want a crossover instead of a minivan; and its unique styling and ceiling window have attracted attention. Old-timers might want to check out the new glass roof option for the Mustang.

New Cars and Models to Cause Head-Scratching

Some new products can trigger a “Say, what?” reaction.

Chevrolet is introducing a hybrid version of its big Silverado pickup, and it will be interesting how many buyers trust its power.

Chevy also blows off fuel efficiency with its new 638-horsepower Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1. Cadillac follows suit with its new 556-horsepower, V8 engine in the CTS-V.

Strangely, Kia introduces a V8 sport-ute, the Borrego. And Saab will push a 280-horsepower beast that is essentially a station wagon, the Turbo X SportCombi.

Much of what is new follows the Silverado trend, that is, known names coming out in hybrid versions. These include the Cadillac Escalade, Chrysler Aspen SUV, Dodge Durango, and GMC Sierra pickup. It’s as if the industry wants to give SUVs one last chance, with gas-sipping engine options.

Perhaps most surprising are automakers that are changing little, despite the miserable 2008 model year. Those would include Buick, Mercury, Jeep, Lexus, Scion, Smart, Land Rover and Volvo. Hummer is just adding the new H3T pickup version to its H3; and Saturn simply added an upgraded hybrid option to the Vue.

Hyundai Accent Hybrid Review - The Pros and Cons

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

One of the most anticipated cars on the American hybrid vehicle market is the Hyundai Accent Hybrid car. Rumors about this automobile began circulating when Hyundai attended the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition in 2005 with a hybridized Accent.

Although a closely guarded secret, those in the know inform eager hybrid aficionados that the Hyundai Accent Hybrid will feature a 90 horse power, 1.4 liter engine as well as a 16 horse power electric motor. This is said to increase the overall fuel economy by an estimated 44%.

This contradicts rumors that would have had the Hyundai Accent Hybrid use the Lambda 3.3 liter V6 engine of the 2006 Sonata. Other rumors insist that this hybrid car would make the pain at the gas pump go away since it is supposed to offer 45 miles per gallon, making it comparable to a Civic II 2 wheel drive CVT.

At this point, this is all conjecture and although potential Hyundai Accent Hybrid buyers are eagerly waiting to get more information, they have to be content with the fact that the earliest scheduled release date is 2009. Price has not yet even been discussed for the North American market, and it is anyone’s guess how competitive the sticker cost of the Hyundai Accent Hybrid will be. Our guess is that it will be very competitive with other like models in it’s class.

Islamic Car to be Manufactured in Iran?

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Can Iran compete in the Global Auto Industry making “Islamic Cars” targeting Muslims? The Islamic car will be produced in Iran - the project is well underway and the goal is to sell Islamic cars to all the Muslim nations and export them to all nations that have significant populations of Muslims. Different parts of the car will be made in places like Turkey and, Iran and they will target market Malaysia, Pakistan, Egypt, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Oman, Iraq, Palestine, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

Meanwhile, the Chinese are also coming out with a very small fuel-efficient car and why of small SUVs, which they plan on selling all over the world as well. This will be quite interesting because the Chinese are also partnering with various African countries to build cars there were cheaper labor and closer to the natural resources.

Does this mean the US automakers will not be able to compete in Asia, China, Africa, South America, Central America, Indonesia to sell their vehicles? The first Chinese car dealerships go into New Jersey in mid-2008 and they will be for sale at a lower price than even the Yugos, Daihatsu or Hyundai. The United States auto-workers need to start building cars that are more fuel-efficient that can compete or they will be left out in the cold.

The Iranian built, Islamic cars do not exist yet, but the project has already received funding that is needed to make it possible. This initial funding will pay for all the planning and feasibility studies. The total project to build the plant’s it will make these cars will cost between 200 and $500 million and we will know sometime in mid-2008 if they will go through with it or not. Something to contemplate in 2008.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Car

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Hyundai officially introduced the hybrid version of the Sonata sedan at the 2008 Los Angeles International Auto Show. It will be the automaker’s first production version gas-electric hybrid in the United States. The company previously made noises about entering the hybrid market with subcompact hybrids, but Hyundai’s hybrid plans were indefinitely delayed before getting very far along. The company seems to be back on track. The Sonata Hybrid is due out in 2010.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Car

At the introduction of the Sonata Hybrid, Hyundai also announced that it will be able to achieve a fleet average of 35 miles per gallon by 2015, five years ahead of the timetable for new fuel economy regulations. “We’re taking fuel efficiency higher and faster than any other carmaker. We’re going to pass Toyota and Honda by 2015,” said John Krafcik, president of Hyundai Motor America, in an interview with HybridCars.com.

What about the fuel economy of the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid? HybridCars.com asked a Hyundai spokesperson (who asked not to be named). “Fuel economy should be improved by 20 to 25 percent, but those are not hard numbers,” he said. The current Sonata midsize sedan grants 22 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway. Do the math, and it means that the Hybrid Sonata could achieve combined fuel economy better than 30 miles a gallon. By comparison, the Camry Hybrid beats out the four-cylinder conventional Camry by the same 20 to 25 percent, while the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid manages about a 9 percent gain over its gas-powered counterpart.

The Sonata Hybrid’s Lithium Batteries

Hyundai developed its own homegrown hybrid architecture for use in the Sonata. The technical design, known as a parallel hybrid system, will serve as the foundation for future hybrid drive vehicles introduced by Hyundai. In a parallel hybrid, the wheels are turned by power coming directly from the gasoline engine, the electric motor, or both together, as conditions demand. This approach is similar to the design used by Toyota and Ford.

The more significant innovation is the use of a lithium polymer battery system provided by Hyundai’s battery supplier, LG Chem. According to Hyundai, the lithium batteries deliver the same power as today’s hybrid nickel metal hydride batteries—but with 30 percent less weight, 50 percent less volume and 10 percent greater efficiency.

Despite industry concerns about the price and availability of lithium batteries, Krafcik said it wasn’t a hard decision to make the move to lithium. He admits that Hyundai is late to the hybrid market—the Sonata is about two years away from dealerships—and expressed the desire to demonstrate a leadership position with its first hybrid entry. “We asked ourselves where the technology is going to be in five years,” he said. “And how we can get to that end point ahead of time.”

Nobody knows where fuel prices will be in two years, when the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid goes on sale, but the Sonata Hybrid could match the fuel economy ratings of the most efficient family sedans on the market—for thousands of dollars below the competition. Pricing and many other specs are not yet available.
